Sonshine Valley

is Epworth UMC's new Sunday School Program. It is made up of a five week series of workshops where the children will rotate to a different workshop each week. Workshop rotation (WoRM) is practical for the teachers and fun for the kids! It uses multiple learning styles to teach the bible while emphasizing the learning environment.

Programs

Workshops (Four year olds through 6th grade):
Where in the World: This is where geography is applied to the bible story. The kids will discover new areas in God's great big world and mark them on the map wall.

God's Bistro: In this cafe style room, kids will learn all of the many items God has given us to make delicious foods. All of their cooking will be applied to the bible story.

God's Recreation Center: this room is home to a beautiful sea mural with many colorful fish. Here kids will have games and lots of movement activities that will lead them into their bible study.

Camp Sonshine: The outdoor setting of this room is a perfect place where the kids can nestle in the camping tent and hear the bible story. The mural of blue skiys, trees, and small animals brings it close to nature.

Let Jesus Inn: Here is where there's always a vacancy. A mural of a desert oasis along with a tent and picnic tables provide just the right place for the kids to hear the bible story.

Godsonium Art: This room will soon be filled with masterpieces from the children. Art projects here will require thinking and expressing what they are learning from the featured bible story.

Sonscreen Computer Lab: Sunscreen and shades may be needed because the "Son" shines bright in here! Lots of fun computer games and activities will bring the bible story to another level of learning.

Workshops (7th through 12th grade:)
Bible Improv: This will take place on the nice big fellowhsip hall stage. The kids will be able to discuss the bible story and real life situations and possibly role play these themes. This workshop is for the older kids in order to deepen their bible knowledge to prepare them for hard issues in life.

Epworth Live!: In this workshop, the kids will be writing scripts, newpspaper articles, and Public Service Announcements. There will also be some filming, editing, and video presentations with popcorn provided by the room's own popcorn machine.

The children will make a journal during their journeys through the various workshops to have as a lasting keepsake.
