The Mother’s Day Out, Preschool and Kindergarten Program at Epworth United Methodist Church is committed to the love, care and nurture of all children who attend the program. Beginning at 9:30 AM and ending at 1:30 PM, August thru May, the program offers days filled with fun and educational activities that contribute to the positive mental, moral, physical and emotional development of each child. Children may attend the program any day Monday-Friday, with the exception of the preschool and kindergarten classes. Two preschool classes are offered, a three day class, a five day class and a five day kindergarten class. The program calendar follows the same calendar as set by the Madison County school system for holidays and school closings.
Teachers are certified in CPR, undergo thorough background checks and are required to attend educational training on an annual basis. Teachers in the preschool and kindergarten classrooms hold various degrees in childhood or special education. In keeping with the North Alabama Conference of Methodist Churches, the program adheres to, and all teachers have been trained in, the Methodist Church Safe Sanctuary policy, which provides a safe, secure environment to teach and care for the children attending the program.
Teacher-child ratios are kept low and each classroom contains materials which are age appropriate to the children in that classroom. Preschool and kindergarten classes have curriculum designed for children that attend those classes. The program offers weekly activities in computer education, art, Spanish, music/motor skills, praise & worship/bible story.
The standards and procedures of the program are overseen and maintained by a board comprised of Epworth church members and it’s Pastor. The board ensures the program addresses the well-being of the children, parents and staff.
