The Order for Worship – Third Sunday of Easter

Prelude – Nicky Wilson, Organist

Call to Worship – Pastor Todd

Welcome – Pastor Todd

† Hymn of Praise: No. 133  “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms”

  • What a fellowship, what a joy divine, leaning on the everlasting arms; what a blessedness, what a peace of mine, leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain – Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms, leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

  • O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way, leaning on the everlasting arms; O how bright the path grows from day to day, leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain – Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms, leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

  • What have I to dread, what have I to fear, leaning on the everlasting arms?  I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain – Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms, leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

† Affirmation of Faith – Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

† Gloria Patria

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

Children’s Moment – Kelly Priest

Congregational Prayer – Pastor Todd

Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen

† Hymn of Praise: No. 318 “Christ Is Alive”

1. Christ is Alive! Let Christians sing. His cross stands empty to the sky.  Let streets and homes with praises ring.  His love in death shall never die.

2. Christ is Alive!  No longer bound to distant years in Palestine, he comes to claim the here and now and dwell in every place and time.

3. No throned afar, remotely high, untouched, unmoved by human pains, but daily, in the midst of life, our Savior in the God-head reigns.

4. In every insult, rift, and war, where color, scorn, or wealth divide, he suffers still yet loves the more, and lives, though ever crucified.

5. Christ is alive, and comes to bring good news to this and every age, till earth and all creation ring with joy, with justice, love and praise.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; praise him above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Sermon – “As You Wish”  – Pastor Todd

† Hymn of Dedication: No. 593  “Here I Am, Lord”

  1. I, the Lord of sea and Sky, I have heard my people cry.  All who dwell in dark and sin my hand will save.   I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright.  Who will bear my light to them?   Who shall I send?

Refrain – Here I am, Lord.  Is it I, Lord?  I have heard you calling in the night.  I will go, Lord, if you lead me.  I will hold your people in my heart.

2. I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people’s pain.  I have wept for love of the.  They turn away.  I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone.  I will speak my word to them.  Who shall I send?

Refrain – Here I am, Lord.  Is it I, Lord?  I have heard you calling in the night.  I will go, Lord, if you lead me.  I will hold your people in my heart.

3. I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame, I will set a feast for them.  My hand will save.   Finest bread I will provide till their hearts be satisfied.  I will give my life to them.  Whom shall I send?

Refrain – Here I am, Lord.  Is it I, Lord?  I have heard you calling in the night.  I will go, Lord, if you lead me.  I will hold your people in my heart.
